Curriculum Objectives of the B.Ed. Program

The B.Ed. program curriculum is designed to achieve the following key objectives, ensuring that student-teachers:

  • Develop a Strong Understanding of Core Concepts
    Gain a deep understanding of central concepts, tools of inquiry, and the structures of various disciplines. Create meaningful learning experiences that help students comprehend and apply subject matter effectively.
  • Recognize Diverse Learning Styles and Needs
    Understand how children learn and develop, recognizing the differences in their learning approaches. Create inclusive learning opportunities that are tailored to the diverse needs of students in various educational contexts.
  • Plan Instruction Based on Learners’ Needs
    Design learning experiences that consider students’ existing proficiency, interests, and experiences. This includes addressing misconceptions and errors while fostering a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
  • Utilize Effective Communication Techniques
    Leverage verbal, non-verbal, and media communication techniques to promote active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom environment.
  • Implement Formal and Informal Assessment Strategies
    Utilize a combination of formal and informal assessment methods to evaluate and support the continuous intellectual, social, and physical development of students.
  • Cultivate Reflective Practice for Professional Growth
    Develop a professional identity as a teacher through school-based experiences and reflective practices. Regularly evaluate the impact of teaching strategies and actions on student learning.

IMPORTANT TERMS

Key Terms Used in the B.Ed. Program

  • Programme: The term “Programme” refers to the entire learning experience or a combination of courses in a specific field of study.
  • Course: A “Course” is a part of the Programme, which is divided into various subjects. It can be considered similar to a paper in the conventional education system.
  • Academic Year: An “Academic Year” is a 12-month period, which includes two semesters.
  • Semester: “Semester” refers to a half-yearly term that includes studies, examinations, vacations, and semester breaks.
  • In-Semester: “In-Semester” refers to the continuous evaluation carried out throughout the semester, focusing on ongoing assessments.
  • End-Semester: “End-Semester” refers to the terminal examinations and evaluations conducted at the end of the semester.
  • Internal Examiner: An “Internal Examiner” is a faculty member appointed by the Head of the Institute from a panel approved by Dibrugarh University, responsible for evaluating students within the institution.
  • External Examiner: An “External Examiner” is an examiner from outside the institution, appointed by the Controller of Examinations at Dibrugarh University from an approved panel. They are responsible for conducting evaluations at the institutional level.

For Girls:

  • White Cotton Chador paired with a Brown Colour Pari or Embroidery.
  • Brown Colour Mekhela (Plain) and a Brown Colour Blouse.
  • White Colour Selwar and Dupatta paired with a Brown Colour Kurta.

For Boys:

  • Black Colour Pant paired with a Brown Colour Cotton Shirt.
